Fostering and Voluntering

Are you interested in fostering or volunteering for Cats Pawjamas Rescue Society?

We are in search of a few great fosters and non-fostering volunteers in the Johnson County area.

Foster applicants and volunteers should understand the group's mission, policies and perspectives. If you are not in alignment with them, Cats Pawjamas probably isn't the right group for you.

Who we are - A foster based rescue in the Kansas City area targeting cats/kittens that are facing imminent euthanasia or homelessness.

For Cats Pawjamas, "rescue" means
  • Using foster homes to prepare cats and kittens, both socially and physically, for placement in quality homes as pets
  • Marketing these cats and kittens effectively to draw an abundance of quality adopters
  • Screen adoption applicants to find the best possible (not necessarily perfect) fit between adopter and cat
  • Provide excellent customer service
    • Be Transparent
    • Be Responsive
    • Provide clear, accurate and timely information

Our Objectives
  • Remain a small intimate rescue
  • Ensure foster support is consistent
  • Continue to build a financial base in 2022
  • Expand our foster pool in 2022
  • Apply a stringent well-kitten protocol
  • Stay technologically current
    • Use Social Media Effectively
    • Use Shelter Manager Effectively
    • Use PetFinder Effectively
    • Adhere to a paperless system

Our Principles
  • Cats Pawjamas is passionately against declawing
  • Cats Pawjamas does not require indoor only
  • I personally have passionate views on FELV and we do not test unless medically indicated
  • We are accountable for finding the BEST home possible, not necessarily the PERFECT home
  • We are not biased - If a person demonstrates the ability to care for a cat, both emotionally and financially, their clothes, their ethnic background, whether they've ever had a cat before or not, does not matter.

Our watch word is "transparency", both with the fostering team and with adopters. Each cat has a distinct personality, and some may have physical or behavioral challenges that should be disclosed to potential adopters. There is a "lid for every pot", you just have to find it.

Cats Pawjamas is a 501(c)3, non-profit, foster-based cat and kitten rescue. We focus on rescuing and rehoming those cats and kittens  facing death due to illness or by euthanasia. Almost all of these cats and kittens require medical intervention prior to adoption. We prepare these cats and kittens, both physically and mentally, to be adopted into loving homes.
